One of my new favorite voices on the scene is London's, Kaleem Taylor. After first being introduced via his classic track "Never",I was sure of his abilities to create something pretty nice for audio relief. And with a baritone so rich in soul, 20 year old Kaleem,delivers this five piece recording - Smooth Ep to wet the palates of his fans and new ones to come. Do not sleep on this kid! His name may not ring any bells right now, but surely after you listen to his vibe - his sound will be engraved in your memory. One look at London native, Kaleem Taylor and you wouldn't think those raspy soul vocals are coming from him. He instantly reminded me of K-Ci from Jodeci (before the drugs and alcohol). I was just talking to a friend the other day, stating to her that London has all the fly stuff. Not taking anything away from home, but it just seems that way.
Well, Kaleem Tayloradds value to my statement with his singles, "Interlude," "Never" & "Blow Out." I'll be the first to tell you, "Never" rocks! It's the first I'd heard from him, and all I needed to become a supporter/fan. "Never" sets the tone for what I believe will be an awesome debut. With its deep bass line and groovy tempo, smothered with his captive vocals like your favorite southern dish, Kaleem's setting a new standard of R&B - the kind from a mature, young man's perspective.
"Blow Out" takes you out on the dance floor with a uptempo pulsating rhythm, and "Interlude" is just that - the perfect transition before the climactic slow jam comes on. Inspired by the likes of Nat King Cole, Lauryn Hill, D'Angelo, Jazmine Sullivan & Stevie Wonder, music lovers will soon enjoy the sounds of #Kaleem Taylor.
About a month ago, I saw one of my FB connects post about this group. I did a quick check on them back then but didn't really give the vibe a good spin until today. Yo, this is a beautiful group with some equally beautiful music. Unfortunately, I can't begin to tell you much about them as their bio on their site is in French. However, their music (what's featured) is in english. Consisting of members Crystal Night and Nyr Raymond, Because of Lilyas they describe themselves - are a group of friends making simple music and having a good time. This is made clearly evident after viewing a performance video on their FB page. Because of Lily shows that sometimes all you need is a guitar, good vocals and a great friendship to deliver honest, whole and genuine music. Keep your eyes and ears open for this group. Hopefully, we'll get some music to purchase from them in the coming months.
I have a confession! I passed on Mara Hruby when I first saw her on bandcamp last year. Can't say why. Just did. But call it fate that I'd eventually take notice. Earlier this year, she found her way into my ear space via her video for Bob Marley's "Is This Love." Covering the massive tune with a soothing angelic vocal combined with an irresistible look - tall, lean and simply sexy, Mara is steadily working her way up the ranks of the romantic movement. Premiering today, she returns with another video from her debut, "From Her Eyes.""The Panties" is a cover of Mos Def's sultry banger of the same name, and in the video directed by Jesse Boykins , we are treated to a playful yet innocent tease of Mara's sensual side. As I watched it, I wish JBIII would've keep a clean focus on Mara, but for the sake of creative expression, I won't complain. Enjoy, and keep your eyes and ears open for more Mara Hruby.
The debut album by UK's latest soul sensation, Andreya Triana is now available. I got my copy last night via her label - Ninjatune's site. Since then, I've been absorbing the short but sweet melodic sounds of the album. And although short, Andreya packs it with her haunting soulful tone backed by her talented producer, Bonobo. My introduction came via the ill "Tea Leaf Dancer"by Flying Lotus, but I didn't really didn't take note until I heard the single "Lost Where I Belong." She had me open from that day forward. Now it's your turn to get wrapped up in her vibe. Peep the gems below. "Draw The Stars" is being giving away via itunes for a limited time, so go for yours. Introducing the official video and second single from Andreya Triana's upcoming debut, Lost Where I Belong. Bonobo and Andreya combine forces again to bring beautiful music to the world. The Video for "A Town Called Obsolete" is very unique as it uses a view finder format to display visuals of a party taking place. I'm still not quite sure what's the meaning behind the song - guess I'm gonna have to give it a few listens. Either way, enjoy the great video and prepare for her album dropping August 23rd in the UK & Sept 7th in the US on Ninjatune Records.

Take Norah Jones' humility mix in a little of Corrine Bailey's humility and end with a dose of Alicia Keys subtlety and the results are one incredible artist. Check out the very first single produced by Bonobo from Ninja Tune's latest signing courtesy of juslikemusic. This single is officially out on December 14th, and the b-side will feature a Flying Lotus remix. Taken from her forthcoming debut album, which will come out on Ninja Tune next Spring.
