KeishaLeisha - Lay With Me

While I've been preparing for my upcoming event, I've not been able to peep who's new coming onto the scene as much as before. But staying connected with the right people sure has its benefits. So thanks to the good folks over at Usoulmag, I was put on to the warm soul sounds of KeishaLeisha. Hailing from Sauga City, Canada, these 25 year old twin sisters add to the wealth of talented independent/underground artists worldwide. Upon first listen to the featured song, it took me back to Floetry's "Getting Late". Not a bad comparison, but after checking out their myspace, I heard something more. Subtract the English accents and the spoken word, and you've got yourself a harmony that's tailored perfectly and sung with such uniformed passion. Peep the short but exquisite "My Life" with it's straight forward lyrics, then "Hold On" which the twins croon lovely over 9th Wonder's remix of Jay Z's "Fallen" off the American Wonder album. To be quite honest, all the tracks on their myspace are dope! I'm really excited about this group and the sound their bringing. Keep an eye out for them. But in case you forget, I'll be here to remind you. Support the artists.

Bug - Cosmic Lab/20 Winks

About 2 months ago, I was privy to hear some exclusive works by London’s BUG courtesy of Gavin from Jus Like Music. What an honor that was for me as both tracks were straight up genius. Well, BUG is now officially on the scene repping the dynamic UK sound as they do so well. "Cosmic Lab" is a lush groove filled with an assortment of keys, strings and some spacey extras that make this track an instant head bobber. This is BUG's debut release which dropped today as a FREE release via Jus Like Music. Don't sleep! This is only the beginning. Give it a spin, then download the single here. Continue to support the artists as always.

New Erykah Badu - Window Seat

I can't even begin to describe the feeling I got when I first heard this joint. For a brief second, I lost all sense of thought, then snapped back quickly as I noticed I was missing out. Ms. Badu drops the 1st official single from the highly anticipated New Amerykah pt.2: Return of The Ankh(3-30-10). Produced by James Poyser and Questlove, "Window Seat" is an chill type of vibe that allows you to mellow out and just escape for a moment. It's a blissful departure from the eclecticism of New Amerykah Part I: 4th World War, beautifully arranged for the ears who appreciate her subtle vibe better. I love her both ways. Give it a listen for yourself, and make sure to peep her website for another gem. Continue to support the works of talented artists.
