J. Nolan - Get Out The Game

For a minute now I've been receiving emails from J. Nolan introducing me to his music. Honestly, I wasn't to hip to the first few joints he sent, so I set him to the side with hopes he'd drop something I could feel.  Well, the ATL based emcee did just that. "Get Out The Game" goes in rapid fire aiming at "hoe" rappers over some ill production from Frontier. Peep it below and also check out his latest, "Corazon" produced by Yung B Da Producer.

JimiJames - Bang Bang

Let me just say this, I'm crazy about JimiJames. She just exudes sex appeal to the 10th power. Not feeling the white lipstick, but Jimi still keeps me eyes lock to her. Oh yeah, the electro bop of this joint is ill too. Make sure to check her myspace for more of her work. Props: BIFTK

Leonard Dstroy - Higher Vibrations

With a name like Leonard Dstroy, one should first assume that the kid is about to smash whatever he puts his hands on, right? Well, indeed L.D does just that. From the onset of the album the beats go in to battle mode with a galaxy somewhere far away. Leonard's crafty sonic production will have beat lovers bobbing their heads throughout this entire album. Fifteen tracks full of great samples, double and triple time drums and 3 vocal joints featuring fellow INnatesounds Crew member Reggie B and Deep Thinkers member Brother of Moses. Peep two of my favorites from the project below, and make sure to download the album here. Respect and success Lenny!

KeishaLeisha - Lay With Me

While I've been preparing for my upcoming event, I've not been able to peep who's new coming onto the scene as much as before. But staying connected with the right people sure has its benefits. So thanks to the good folks over at Usoulmag, I was put on to the warm soul sounds of KeishaLeisha. Hailing from Sauga City, Canada, these 25 year old twin sisters add to the wealth of talented independent/underground artists worldwide. Upon first listen to the featured song, it took me back to Floetry's "Getting Late". Not a bad comparison, but after checking out their myspace, I heard something more. Subtract the English accents and the spoken word, and you've got yourself a harmony that's tailored perfectly and sung with such uniformed passion. Peep the short but exquisite "My Life" with it's straight forward lyrics, then "Hold On" which the twins croon lovely over 9th Wonder's remix of Jay Z's "Fallen" off the American Wonder album. To be quite honest, all the tracks on their myspace are dope! I'm really excited about this group and the sound their bringing. Keep an eye out for them. But in case you forget, I'll be here to remind you. Support the artists.

Vikter Duplaix - Electric Love: Nicolay Remix

I posted the original version of this earlier in the month. Now, producer and Grammy Nominee, Nicolay (The Foreign Exchange) blesses the track with a spacey kind of techno vibe remix. Still feeling the original more, but I'm a fan of Nicolay's production regardless. Get your free download here. Enjoy! Real music: Support it.

Escape With Sound Scapes

East London & Kent Coast UK representatives, Amede pronounced (AM-EDDIE) - the voice, and producer/engineer The Soundsmith are a deeply creative duo that's all about making good music. Together, they unite a collection of sounds stemming from soul break beats & hip hop samples, and reaching towards futuristic, ambient vibes with a lounge effect to bring their dream stage like music to the forefront. My beginings with the group are extremely new and came via Sexy Beast Vol 5 by DJ SD & Jus One. I liked what i heard, so off to their myspace I went to find out more about the group. I bought a joint off their Flat 17 - EP, and got a free download of a project entitled Sound Scapes via their website. Here's what Amede had to say about Sound Scapes:

"Sound Scapes is a 24 track album which in a nutshell, reveals all my ways of working and snippits of vocal work soon to come in 2010. The Sound Scapes touch on discrepant sampled based hip hop soul built on my mpc, sparse soulful and abstract vocals to some sonic sound studies to soak your mind in."

Give them a listen. Download the project here, and look out for new works to come in 2010. Support good music.

Putting In Work

Reppin' SD and LA, California - DJ/producer Freddie Joachim is a class act when it comes to laying down smooth & jazzy hip hop beats to keep you in a mellow spirited mood. His skills date back to 96' as a mobile DJ and turntabilist. In 2001 he delve deeper into the music, and eventually claimed his first production and recording credits in 06'. I personally got into Freddie, last year with his debut, In With Time. Now the kid is like 4 albums deep since then, plus production for his joint venture with Lauren Santiago and a remix for Vikter Duplaix. Whew! Continue to support good music. His latest album, Study Guide with Question is available now. Enjoy the video below and the creamy vocals of Clara Hill on "Endlessly."

Vikter Duplaix - Electric Love (Free DL)

This has been out for a few months now, but Mr. Duplaix let it go on his twitter page for the fans who don't have it and the newcomers who need to have it. It'll be gone after this month, so hurry! Continue to support good music.

En'A-Free-Ka

Shafiq Husayn, one third of the musical collective known as SA-RA, released his first solo album En' A-Free-Ka via Plug Research this past October. For those familiar with the innovative & futuristic sounds of the group, you will not be disappointed with En'A-Free-Ka. Content wise, Shafiq is ethereal in comparison to the groups more wild and freaky themes. Delivering messages of a free spirit: love, justice & freedom over African rhythms combined with layered synthesizers, live horns and strings, you are in for an audio experience. Get it here or here. Support the artist. Check out two of my favorites. The drums on "Rebel Soldier" are crazy, and "Changes" is so melodic.

Production, Performance, Perfection

Detroit representatives, PPP (Platinum Pied Pipers) is back on the scene with a bigger and more expansive sound than their debut, Triple P (2005). Abundance (2009) is their new offering, and let me assure you - it knocks on all levels of musicianship.

Producer, Wajeed and multi-instrumentalist, Saadiq along with the commanding vocals of Karma Stewart and the soulful compositions of prolific singer/songwriter, Coultrain, weave electric, hip-hop, rock and soul harmonies to create a masterpiece of an album. From the 1st track "Angel" to the last, "Goodbye" - Abundance comes blasting through your speakers like an all out "live" show! To truly appreciate this album at optimal level you must remain open-minded. It's constant energy will have you partying all the way through. Definitely one of the best albums of 2009. Don't sleep on it! Support good music! Support the artists!

"The Cool Weirdo"

Newark, New Jersey native, Peter Hadar has been steadily building his career as an artist to watch for. Not Your Average Artist

About a year ago through a podcast I was listening to, I became familiar with the sounds of Bilal Salaam. Now at first, I was confused when I read the track list. I knew Bilal from the classic single "Soul Sista," but I know his last name to be Oliver, but I thought it did sound kind of like him. So with the last name Salaam, I hit up the net in search of an answer. My conclusion became my inclusion of another dope soulful brotha to my music collection. Bilal Salaam's music is an amalgam of hip hop and old soul with an electric twist. He catches the ear dropping cleverly written sociopolitical topics driven through his sharp at times, yet emphatic tone. Those who have seen him in concert have said he's a one man band whose capable of letting his presence and talent bring you into his zone. Representing Washington, D.C, Bilal Salaam is sure to make his mark amongst the countless artists of good underground soul music. From the EP: Langue De Rasoir here is the title cut "Razor Tongue." Self explanatory so no need for me to explain. Please support this cool pure breed of talent.
