Although a year late of its release, Of God's and Girls by Mr. J. Medeiros was one of my favorite albums of 2008. "Change" most definitely has to be my favorite off the album. From it's rhythmic dope production to the real life lyricism displayed by Mr. J. Medeiros, Rez & Wako Texas' Strange Fruit Project, the vibe was infectious and made the album a worthy addition to my collection. His latest track "Pink Lights" is his rendition of Laura Veirs track of the same name. J speaks of lost innocence, broken hearts and getback on this progressive yet thoughtful track. Peep the joint below, and get your free copy via his bandcamp site. Thanks Mr. Medeiros for this one.

Aloe Blacc - Femme Fatale
Femme Fatale is the second single from Aloe Blacc's upcoming release Good Things. Aloe gives The Velvet Underground's hit a fantastic soulful remake. I'm really feeling dude's style and his approach to making music. He definitely has an ear for great melodies and composition. If you're new to his vibe, I suggest you track back to his debut and find out the greatness this Cali native represents. Good Things drops Sept 14. Support it when it drops.

Antonia Jenae' - Homegrown Diva From The South
Antonia Jenae' is no new comer to the music industry. Known as "dawtah" to the dirty south, Antonia is keepin' it F-U-N-K-Y! This sultry singer has been on her grind for more than a decade touring with Joss Stone and sharing stages with many of music's heavyweights. Her debut album - For Medicinal Purposes (2005) allowed her to keep true to her sound which pulls elements from soul, funk, rock and blues - layered with her sexy, gritty vocals and you have the makings for an ear-gasm. "Addicted" is one of those tracks that make you want to get into all of what she is talking about. As Antonia continues to make her mark, she is gaining momentum as one of the top artists in "The Andre Harell Super Star Soul Search" competition. Take a listen to her vibe and make your vote be heard. It's real simple. Click here, let the track play, and if your feelin' her vibe as we know you will, click on the thumbs up! Voting ends on June 21, 2010, 11:59 pm EST. Stay tuned, we will have more to come from this Homegrown Diva in our candid interview.

Bilal - Free
Mr. Wonderful has finally returned to the game to bless us with his upcoming sophomore album, Airtight's Revenge. Since the shelving of his then sophomore effort Love For Sale, Bilal has remained busy living, touring, writing and perfecting his craft. He's not been too far removed though. Just last year he was featured on Shafiq Husayn's - En' A-Free-Ka album as well as Robert Glasper's - Double Booked. His contributions to both records brought signs of relief to fans. Well, the official date for the album is September 14th courtesy of Plug Research, his new label who provided the track below to hold us over. This won't be on the project, and I'm sure the official single will drop late July, early August, but you can rest assured Bilal will bring the Fire this Fall. Support it when he drops it.

Phil Ade - The Letter (Video)
New to me is the lyrical vibe set loose from DMV emcee, Phil Ade. Phil has earned the distinction of being the first artist signed to Raheem DeVaughn’s DC-based independent label, 368 Music Group. What I personally like about dude is his connection with words and his ability to apply them vividly. He's most certainly inspired by the "Golden Era" of hip-hop and that's a major for heads such as myself that love the music that came out then. He'll be dropping his 2nd mixtape, The Letter on July 6th, so make sure to check it out when it drops via Okayplayer. Peep the remix to his "Hollywood" single below & get his 09 mixtape, Starting on JV here. Props to BLS .

Georgia Anne Muldrow is Jyoti
The incredibly gifted Georgia Anne Muldrow returns as Jyoti which is a Sanscrit word meaning “light.” The name was given to her by the late great Alice Coltrane, who was a friend of the family. Under this new alias, Georgia will perform all her future jazz projects. The first of these projects will be Ocotea - drawing from a sea of influences such as Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys, Swamini Truiyasangitanada’s Monastic Trio, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Henry Threadgill, Sun-Ra, and Stevie Wonder... the project fuses experimental synthesizers and melodies that soar about with raw musicianship to bring forth the free jazz sound of the album. Ocotea will show Georgia in a whole new light and is sure to become a new-jazz classic. It will be released on limited CD/vinyl on June 15th. Make sure you get your copy! Check out the soothing sounds of "The Black Mother" below and more from the album here.

Andreya Triana - A Town Called Obsolete (Video)
Introducing the official video and second single from Andreya Triana's upcoming debut, Lost Where I Belong. Bonobo and Andreya combine forces again to bring beautiful music to the world. The Video for "A Town Called Obsolete" is very unique as it uses a view finder format to display visuals of a party taking place. I'm still not quite sure what's the meaning behind the song - guess I'm gonna have to give it a few listens. Either way, enjoy the great video and prepare for her album dropping August 23rd in the UK & Sept 7th in the US on Ninjatune Records.

Stalley & Ski Beatz - Harsh Ave
Massollin, Ohio native now Brooklyn, NY resident, Stalley returns after his dope collabo with The Cool Kids on We Can Do It Big with a taste of a joint from his forthcoming debut album. "Harsh Ave" places Stalley back in his east coast hometown painting realistic visuals of the neighborhood where he grew up. Ski Beatz supplies a venomous horn and drum kick to highlight the lyrical smash Stalley delivers. If you're not familiar with Stalley, get familiar beginning with his 2009 mixtape - MadStalley The Autobiography. Kid is nice! Kind of reminds me of Cormega with the flow, but make no mistakes, Stalley holds his own. More to come from the man.

Dynasty - Dreampusher Mixtape Release Party
We featured Tampa femcee, Dynasty here back in April with the release of her second single Magnificent. Now she's back with her dope debut mixtape, Dreampusher. Last night, Dynasty rocked for friends and newcomers during her Dreampusher Mixtape Release Party. Held at the New World Brewery, both the evening heat and Dynasty rose to the occasion. With poise and clearly defined rhymes, Dy took command of her audience treating them to live gems off the mixtape. Special guest performances from Hop & Blue Legacy, Jinx & Ron Marks, J.U.S.T.I.C.E League newcomer Laws, and others came alive to show support for their girl. Much love & respect was shown from everyone in attendance. It was a night for celebrating a dream, & Dynasty pushed and prevailed to make it happen. Make sure to support her mixtape.
