Mara Hruby - The Panties (Video)

I have a confession! I passed on Mara Hruby when I first saw her on bandcamp last year. Can't say why. Just did. But call it fate that I'd eventually take notice. Earlier this year, she found her way into my ear space via her video for Bob Marley's "Is This Love." Covering the massive tune with a soothing angelic vocal combined with an irresistible look - tall, lean and simply sexy, Mara is steadily working her way up the ranks of the romantic movement. Premiering today, she returns with another video from her debut, "From Her Eyes." "The Panties" is a cover of Mos Def's sultry banger of the same name, and in the video directed by Jesse Boykins , we are treated to a playful yet innocent tease of Mara's sensual side. As I watched it, I wish JBIII would've keep a clean focus on Mara, but for the sake of creative expression, I won't complain. Enjoy, and keep your eyes and ears open for more Mara Hruby

U.City - Heartbreaker rmx ft. (Eric Roberson & Jesse Boykins III)

On Monday, I received an email from a group named U.City wanting to share a track w/me and 17 others via soundcloud. I hadn't heard of U.City, but the features on the track piqued my interest. So I clicked on the link then pressed play on the cloud and a sweet dub type track crept into my ear. The bassline and melody is very reggae inspired - I'd even go as far as saying the overall vibe reminds me of a Morgan Heritage track. That's a good look! Needless to say, I had heard of the group before under their previous moniker United Soul. The Nicolay remix of "Soul Clap" was my first taste of the group. Heartbreaker comes via their 09 release The Fall

Jesse Boykins III - Before The Night is Through

A summer night out at Santos during in NYC was the first time I'd heard this infectious vibe by Jesse Boykins III. Along with friends, JBIII shared footage of the night, and "B4 the Night is Thru" felt just right playing in the background. I'd been waiting on this joint to come to fruition and now it's here for you to partake in. Look out for the new album, Love Apparatus dropping 2011.

Jesse Boykins III - Before The Night is Through (Video)

This is my first time covering 25 year old Jesse Boykins III, but he's no newbie to me. I've known about him for about 2 years now, and his music without a doubt goes in. The Beauty Created (2008) was considered an instant classic featuring some of the best futuristic, jazzy soul production and Jesse's melodious toned voice. The featured video below shows a night out at Santos in NYC laced by what could possibly be a cut from JBIII for his third album. B4 The Night is Thru is the name of the vibe. Be prepared to get up and dance as the pulsing bass line takes you in. Check it out. Support JBIII

Santos "Our Studio 54" NYC

"If you live in NYC and have been out on a Friday Night, you know Santos is where we usually end up. I like to look at it as the modern day Studio 54. Just Blaze on the 1's and 2's, Chad hooking it up with the tickets at the door, People hanging outside starting shit with the bouncers. A melting pot of all NYC'S many faces in one spot." The Black Apple © Saint - Jesse Boykins III
