Avery Sunshine- Next to Blow

The whole world will be talking when the next lady of soul opens her mouth and allows the truth to emit. A native of Chester, Pa now residing in Atlanta, Ga, Avery Sunshine brings the light to your day with her jazzy-soul vocals and talented keyboard skills. She embodies the gift of music and through it expresses the challenges of her life: being a divorcee & single mother of two, yet sings about the joy of loving again and thankful to God for what he has in store for her. A natural performer, songwriter and musician - Avery's voice and style will capture your attention and raise your spirit the way Ledisi's did when she first hit the scene. Listen below to the melodically introspective, but beautifully told "Ugly" from her debut album due out May 25th. Make sure to visit her Reverbnation page for more incredible previews from her album.

Yahzarah - Why Doncha Call Me No More (Official Video)

Yahz drops some vibrant visuals to her 80's inspired lead single. Get ready to feel energized, and if you're a product of the 80's, you'll surely appreciate this blast from the past themed video. Also, if you have yet to  purchase The Ballad of Purple Saint James, don't waist another second. The album is phenomenal and amongst my top 5 for 2010 releases.

Alex B - Getting to Know You

Opinions are powerful and can sway consumers one way or the other. Most of the time critics, bloggers and musical peers alike give bias views or simply exaggerate or underrate a project due to lack of knowledge or an affinity with the artist. Well, after reading a few reviews regarding Alex B's new LP, Moments I took it upon myself to give it a fair listen. The Colorado based producer injects a flurry of electro grooves, sonic break beats and boom bap that's strong on the LA scene into Moments. Fans of Flying Lotus & Amede and the Soundsmith will easily appreciate Alex B's work. I personally dig the LP as it is an escape from my regular soul or hip hop listening. Drums that bang and tangled chords come together to provide a progressive future sound which makes Moments a well crafted album. If my opinion doesn't lead you to feel any kind of way, let the featured track below speak for itself. Support the project for a small fee via amazon.

Leonard Dstroy - Higher Vibrations

With a name like Leonard Dstroy, one should first assume that the kid is about to smash whatever he puts his hands on, right? Well, indeed L.D does just that. From the onset of the album the beats go in to battle mode with a galaxy somewhere far away. Leonard's crafty sonic production will have beat lovers bobbing their heads throughout this entire album. Fifteen tracks full of great samples, double and triple time drums and 3 vocal joints featuring fellow INnatesounds Crew member Reggie B and Deep Thinkers member Brother of Moses. Peep two of my favorites from the project below, and make sure to download the album here. Respect and success Lenny!

Castle - Out There EP

Greensboro, NC representative, Castle shot me an email last month introducing his music to me. I've listened to the project twice now, and I'm pleased with the brotha's efforts. Both emcee and producer, Castle compiled the 7 song Out There EP and presented Hip Hop with a quality piece of work. As explained by Castle himself, "This is a short project I have been put off completing for the past three years. After getting my hands on a new mic, I figured I would try my hand at completing it again, this being the result." Well, the new mic did justice! Castle's baritone laced lyrical content blends perfectly with his sonic sound. He rhymes on "So Tired," "Your money can't be healthy if your life is so ill. And I'm sick to my stomach with this hand that fate deals." Simple, but valuably true! With the over abundance of b.s broadcasting via mainstream radio and the internet as well, it's good to know that there is talent in the game embodying the beginnings of the art form and keeping it alive. Peep one of my favorites below, then go download the project here. Sorry I took so long, but respect & success to you Castle!

Dynasty - Magnificent

Keeping true to her New York roots, Queens representative now Tampa resident, Dynasty has been lighting up stages throughout Central Florida for the past few years now. A "real emcee" stated by the legendary KRS-1 himself during a show out in St. Petersburg, Dynasty reps the ladies of hip hop to the fullest. No sex selling, fashion flow touting or man bashing lyrics here. Dy simply grabs the mic and spits the lyrics of one who studied the traditions of this art form: dope rhymes over dope beats! Check out her 2nd single, "Magnificent" produced by DJ Royce from her forthcoming debut "Dreampusher" soon on it's way.
