JimiJames - Bang Bang
Let me just say this, I'm crazy about JimiJames. She just exudes sex appeal to the 10th power. Not feeling the white lipstick, but Jimi still keeps me eyes lock to her. Oh yeah, the electro bop of this joint is ill too. Make sure to check her myspace for more of her work. Props: BIFTK

Aloe Blacc - You Make Me Smile
I've been hearing about the forthcoming sophomore album by Aloe Blacc for some time now, and finally the wait is over. Good Things produced by Truth+Soul will be released worldwide on September 28th. In the NPR.org, review, writer Otis Hart states: "It's a laid-back collection of vintage sounds and modern emotions that's sure to rank among the best albums of 2010, and based on what I've heard I don't disagree. Check out the last single to drop prior to next weeks release date, and if you want to hear more check here. Also, to see if he'll be performing in a venue near you, check his tour dates here.

Avery Sunshine - All In My Head (Video)
My NY homie told me he got a chance to see Avery Sunshine play S.O.B's last week and said she tore the spot down. I didn't doubt him one bit as I was the one who put him on to her. I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Sunshine and she's a amazing woman filled with good spirits. In her official video for "All In My Head" Ms. Sunshine looks fantastic, but don't mistake her beauty because around the 3:30 mark of this video, you will see a woman ready to put the smack down on her suspected cheating man played by soul singer Anthony David. Her debut is still available via itunes, amazon and her website.

Hadee ft Augustine & Primeridian - Magnificent
I first heard of Chicago native, Hadee back in 08' on a track entitled "Explode." Produced by Analogic, it was the perfect intro to the new emcee I'd come to know. Back then he was going by Rashid Hadee, and he wasn't a newcomer as well. This gifted emcee/producer to my knowledge has been crafting joints since 05', releasing his debut, "Dedication" during that year, but I'm most certain he's been putting in work even earlier. Hadee's voice is subtle yet compelling - a well spoken emcee who articulates his jewels with precise effectiveness, and his beats...it's evident that he came up studying the great Pete Rock, but in now way a biter. Soon he'll be releasing his Hadiesel: The Fuel Up mixtape and below is the first blessings from the project. "Magnificent" is one of those joints that bangs and just feels good at the same time, so get that head ready to nod something seriously.

"Our Generation" remixed by J.Period and featuring Pete Rock & CL Smooth is the first offering from J.Period’s forthcoming mixtape, Wake Up! Radio. Scheduled for release in late November, Wake Up! Radio is the perfect companion piece to John Legend & The Roots’ WAKE UP! LP which drops tomorrow and will be available on both itunes and amazon. J.Period takes us back to 92' when the dynamic duo dropped the classic "Straighten It Out" which makes use of the same sample of "Our Generation" by Ernie Hines.

DANCE 4EVER Simeon (of PRIMERIDIAN) & Shev Rock ... Tall Black Guy Remix
Steady working to give fans and newbies that Chi town flavor, Tall Black Guy cooks up a summery remix to the Grant Parks original "Dance 4Ever." The original is quite smooth and laid back giving Simeon of Primeridian & ShevRock an opportunity to showcase the lyrics and hook, but you can't front on the amped up version TBG puts on it. Prepare to get your feet moving. This one is classic!

Phantom Lover ft Fatima - Beaucoup Papa
Came across this 5 song project by Phantom Lover, producer of JBIII's "Chanel." Aside from that joint, I don't know of anything by dude, up 'til now. The Mauve Ep is an intriguing electro soul blend that is certain to do two things to the body - makes it move or it seduces you. I felt a little bit of both will riding back home playing the EP on high. Take a listen to one of my favorites off the EP featuring one of my favorite new artists. Support the project for the low here.

Boog Brown - Just Be
With so many emcee's in the game now it's truly hard to keep up, and when it comes to the females who really rep this hip hop ish, it's almost like they don't exist. But if you want to know the truth, there are plenty and Boog Brown is one of them. Relatively new to me, I'd heard her just a few months back via a track called "Mid West Kids Rmx" off Aarophat & Illastrate's - Black Noise album. With a crisp clear voice and an effortless flow Boog Brown proves to be a major contender against most male emcee's you claim to be dope. Thanks to twitter, I was able to capture the featured gem below which is from her upcoming album The Brown Study LP dropping Sept 28th. Boog paints the pic of a passionate relationship with her soon to be king over a lush & dreamy sonic knock provided by Apollo Brown. Check out her Grind Season Vol 1. mixtape to get more of a taste before the album drops.

Tiye Phoenix - 48 Bars of Progression
The only female and 1 fourth of the Polyrhythm Addicts, Tiye Phoenix is representing for the lyrical ladies in hip hop. Her Kevin Nottingham exclusive "48 Bars of Progress" produced by herself and Audible Doctor touches briefly on her Nicky Minaj comment recently stated in the BET documentary “My Mic Sounds Nice”, but more so is an attack on the industry for keeping the truly gifted out the game and leading the public to believe that's there's only 1 female running things. Tiye goes in and doesn't apologize for anything said. Keep blazing Tiye! Real recognize Real!

Grap Luva - Work it Out
Many may know Grap Luva as the younger brother to legendary producer Pete Rock or even a founding member of the ill 90's hip hop group INI, but dude in his own is right is gifted with the production in addition to rhyming skills. Aside from guest spotting on others projects, Grap's been rather quite during the 2000's. Fortunately for fans of his, he'll be releasing a 7 song EP later this year. Check out a snippet from 1 of the tracks featured below.

Tokyo Dawn Records Presents: The Heart
The Heart is Tokyo Dawn Records' newest release for 2010. A compilation project of 18 songs from a variety of artists - some new to me like Addiquit, Slow Drag Travellers & fLako to more familiar names like Reggie B, Jimetta Rose & Georgia Ann Muldrow. I just got through the entire record today, and for the most part - minus a few tracks it's pretty solid. The Heart will hit all major stores on September 17th , but a special pre-release edition can now be downloaded here. Peep two of my favorites from the project below.

The Foreign Exchange - Maybe She'll Dream of Me
I didn't expect a drop this soon, but I'm not complaining either way. Back again is the incredible duo of Phonte & Nicolay better known as The Foreign Exchange with their 1st single from their upcoming 3rd album Authenticity dropping October 12th. Aiming to push their creative juices another step forward "Maybe She'll Dream of Me" begins with a cinematic opening then flows into quirky electronic laser bounces backed by a mellow baseline. Pre-orders for the album I'm sure will come in the next couple of weeks as will another single, so enjoy this for now until the album drops. For more info about the album click here.

Faith Evans - Everyday Struggle ft Raekwon
5 years has past since her last work, and now Faith Evans is set to drop her 5th studio album, Something About Faith on October 5th. The above pic is said to be the official album cover. (?) The first single with Snoop was fly, now this one featuring Raekwon is just as good. Nothing original, but a cool take on Biggie's "Everyday Struggle" which too was a nice take on the beautiful Dave Grusin track "Either Way."
